SELF PAY
I've heard about a Dr. in Coos Bay who performs the surgery on an outpatient basis for about $12,000. (Dr. Tsergini, or something similar???)
I'm not trying to pimp my doctor or anything, but for what it is worth-----I am going to Mexico and will be banded for under $9000. After doing a lot of research, I know my doctor has performed many more procedures than most of the docs in Oregon. For me, it was only partially about money. I was primarily concerned with finding an experienced surgeon.

Holly,
One thing to keep in mind about self-paying for Lap Band (which I researched for myself early in my WLS pursuit) is the cost of band adjustments post-operatively. It is important to know ahead of time who you will contract with to do those adjustments and after care, and what they charge for those services. I have a good friend who was self-pay Lap Band who pays about $400 for each adjustment, office visit costs are on top of this.
Just make sure you get ALL of the costs factored into the whole thing.
Blessings,
dina
(*****alized one day that being self-pay really means being a wise consumer, too!)
