I'm bummed
I just got my Orientation time for Dr Deveney.. it is June 28th.. the person on the Phone says that it is 6 months from the time of the orientation for the surgery..
I know some people have gotten in sooner...
problem is that I am a student at the University.. at 50 go figure.. and I can't not go to class that is the only way that I earn any money to live.. no class .. no money.. street person.. that is the whole thing about going to school . so that I can get a job..
so far every job I apply for I can't get .. even though I am very good with computers.. and the main reason is cause of my size.. I would love a job..
part of wanting the WLS is cause when I graduate next year I can start a new life.. with a thinner me..
what am I going to do.. I have almost 4 weeks in Sept without school.. and then I have solid classes until Dec.. where I again have at least 3 weeks without class. if I could do the surgery in the summer than I could do online classes.. but there are no classes in the fall that I can take that way..
darn darn darn.. now I am bummed and I am usually a positive kinds person.. (sigh):=(
Boy - I just typed a huge response and my screen locked up on me!
In short, basically I wanted to suggest you recontact your surgeon's office and explain your situation and see if they can get you in during the summer.
If not, there is Dr. Mirande in Klamath Falls who does pretty much every type of bariatric surgery. He's been there 2-3 years or so and I know several people who have been to him. There are also 2 in Medford that just started the first of the year and one in Ashland just starting (Dr. Stewart, who goes to my church). Dr. Stewart I know has been a general surgeon w/a great reputation in this area prior to this, and Ashland is dedicating a whole wing to bariatric patients as well.
Anyway - there are a few options to think about. Hopefully you'll be able to get in by this summer at least! Good luck!

I think you might also find that your professors will be accomodating. If your at home and able to at least do some school work...they may work with you on that so you can still be "officially" in school, but working from home.
I had mono for about two months while I was in school (at PSU in 99) and my profs worked with me with my studies.
Just a thought! Good Luck!
