Okay, pathetic whining to commence... Day five of the pre-op diet and I gotta tell you: just hearing the words "cottage cheese" or "tuna fish" makes me want to start barking at my shoes! Six weeks...six weeks...I can do anything for six weeks! LOL! Seriously, feeling pretty crummy the last couple of days, but I remember from my Atkins experince that it's just my body adjusting to the lack of carbs and I'll bounce back after the first week. I have found that canned chicken and canned salmon are pretty good (but expensive) alternatives. Did any of you come up with interesting meals during this phase? Blessings, Perry Perry P. Perry - are you doing just low-carb like Atkins or something else? I didn't have a pre-op diet. As for chicken, try the Costco roasted chicken. You WILL NOT be disappointed. I love to eat it heated over cottage cheese. They make a good combo. I have a lot of low-carb meal ideas, but I'm not sure if you would be able to have them if fat is limited. Check out my website at http://www.javajabbers.com and go to the low-carb section for a bunch of recipes. Also, for a twist on the cottage cheese, take a little SF jello powder and mix it with your cottage cheese for a nice dessert. It's actually very tasty! Dina

Hi Perry... Sounds like the pre-op diet outlined by my surgeon too.. I found cottage cheese mixed with herbs helped... garlic.. paprika..onion..I know onion's not an herb but it does help with flavor. I also used balsamic vinegar on the cottage cheese mixed with tuna. Salad veggies were ok'd so I'd use the tuna in with the greens and sprinkle with balsamic vinegar.. pretty tasty actually! I was also told that I could have chicken breast or thigh.. no skin.. broiled. and once a week a lean steak. I also broiled salmon fillets with garlic and a little Brumble and Brown yogurt/butter for moisture. I looked forward to the salads with left over salmon! Hang in there.. you can do it! Tons of water and Crystal Lite...my surgery date is Monday April 12,,, the restricted diet may not be exciting but it does help drop some pre-surgery weight! Penny

Dina & Penny, Great ideas all! I'm actually over the week 1 slump now and starting to feel pretty good. Energy up, appetite down, etc. That jello idea sounds great, and I love basalmic vinegar, so I'll have to try that too! You guys rock! Blessings, -Perry Perry P. Sounds like you were suffering from the Induction Crud! That is exactly how Atkins feels the first week, and indeed the 2nd week energy returns and you feel much better! Glad you are in fact feeling better! Dina
