2 months post op
Well, my husband is 2 months post op this day and down 45 pounds. He has started working out on a regular basis doing upper body free weights and a cardio workout 3 x per week. Last night was measurement night and he is down 34.25 inches since surgery. What I find interesting is that the first month he lost 20.25 " and those inches were evenly divided about his body. Since he has begun weight lifting he has not lost inches in his biceps or chest but has lost 4" from belly, 6" from waist and 3" from hips. He still cannot tolerate red meat, bread, or much diary. Biggest problem for him is to remember to take small bites and chew, chew, chew. When he doesn't do this he is miserable. We are going to New Orleans for spring break and he wants to wait until closer to the trip before buying clothes. I don't think he can wait much longer. I came up behind him last night and with just a slight tug on his pants I had the man naked!
I'm working hard on the exercise program and have lost 12 pounds since Mike's surgery. Every little bit helps. I am sure having the personal trainer is working as my clothes are fitting looser and I too need to shop before vacation. I have another week before my measurement day. I am doing an aerobic swimming class on M-W-F and then meet with the trainer for weights and resistance training. I am adding more weghts to the machines each week. I am also doing 10 minutes on the EPX and then 30 minutes (or 4 miles) on the bike. Can you say tired? I'm soon to be scheduled for another surgery for this pancreatic problem I am having and I am hoping to be pain free soon. That would be nice.
Anyway, it is interesting to watch my husband struggle with his weight loss as I am struggling with mine. We have the same goal just a different way of reaching it. Either way, hard painful work.
Take care all. KW
Kathy - I just read your story and all I can say is "WOW." I am sorry you had such a rough time over the years with that nicked colon. I hope you were fairly compensated for that. What an ordeal!
Congrats to your husband on his weight loss. Sounds like you rather enjoy his baggy clothing. Me thinks she doth protest too much! (We know you like that 1 tug gets him nekkid trick! LOL!)
