i have bcbs of or through tri-met in portland, feel free to email me if you have questions. per my surgeons office and a phone call to bcbs from myself, they don't cover wls. they have a specific written exclusion. only what i have heard, although my bcbs is secondary. my surgeons office is still going to bill them the remainder of the bill and see if they will pay anything. keri lap rny 12-29-03 252/215

CJ - Yes, I'm going March 10th. I've been bad about getting my ducks in a row though. Gotta hurry and get a lot of stuff done Monday as time is running out! My mom is going to go with me instead of DH so that will make me feel better about not having to leave Mason alone without one of us. How is your sister doing CJ? I haven't heard from her in awhile. Me, too! My husband works for Capital Projects... Man, we went through so much trying to get them to change the insurance product they purchase - you know, while they were nice, they basically told me to soak my head. I had FIVE letters of medical necessity stating I'd be dead if I didn't have surgery - and soon. Still didn't matter. So who is your surgeon? Oh yes! It's the insurance from hell! Of course, I wasn't saying that when they covered my hernia repair/abdominoplasty, though! I ended up self-paying and going to Spain for my surgery - it was an incredibly positive experience.
