Anyone know a Portland area surgeon, w/out a wait?
I have been working to have WLS for so long, now it's finally possible, and I just want to get it done..... I dont want to have to jump thru any more hoops... I just want to have the surgery done! Anybody found a surgeon in Portland Metro Area that doesnt schedule surgery 3-4 or even 5 months out? Please advise....
Got the ok from United Healthcare 's Care Coordinator this morning to find a surgeon ....any help/info anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated....
Evergreen Bariatric Center for WLS in Kirkland, Wa. says they usually schedule surgery w/in 3 weeks of attending their "Informational Seminar... they are done on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Guess I'll call UHC in the a.m. to see if they will pay for the surgery if I go to Evergreen to have it done.....
Not sure about any surgeon that won't require hoops. I mean, those hoops are what keeps us safe, the surgeon educated about our bodies, helps us know what problems may arise and do something to combat those difficulties ahead of time. Sure the sleep apnea thing is a pain, but can cause enormous problems during surgery, of course that is just an example. I honestly, speaking only for myself, wouldn't trust a surgeon who didn't require some hoops. It also helps us to educate ourselves about the surgery itself, and it's possible risks.

Dr. Donald McConnell at OHSU is a wonderful and supportive surgeon. He is in the adult general sugery unit. They are very versed in how to bill insurance and I did not have to wait long for my surgery about two weeks. The treatment I received was wonderful and the nursing staff supported me through after the proceedure as well. Best of luck to you and your journey.
Hello, I attended Dr. Patterson info meeting last week and she has a surgeon working with her now, His name is Doctor Hong and he is in the same office as her. They do Lap. His he has no waiting list, But he still has per-surgery requirements. I had all of my appointments within one week and am now waiting for approval from UHC. Good Luck.. If you have anymore question email me.
