Hello, I am wondering if anyone knows of any employers in Portland or around Portland that has insurance that covers this surgery? My husband has been looking for a new job and we want an employer that will cover me to have this surgery. Please let me know of any and all that you may be aware of. THANKS A MILLION! Sally

Hi Sheila, I work for a CNF subsidiary and the insurance there does cover the surgery and most of the appointments that go with it. He can go to the web site "cnf.com" and check out the postings. Good luck! Andrea

I appreciate you guys helping with some companies that have insurance that cover this procedure. I am wanting to have this done sooooooooooooo bad. I have everything done on my check off list with Dr Patterson almost. I had one hold up and that was with the psyc. exam. They want me to get on meds for ADD has anyone had this happen and how much will this slow me down? My goal is to have my surgery done by March or April. Thanks!

I heard that United United Health Care covers the surgery, and that the local power company offers United Health Care to their employees. Good Luck! Tammy

Hi Sheila, you didn't mention what type of work your DH does, but I work for Legacy Health System and the insurance that they offer (ODS) does cover the procedure if you meet their criteria. BMI of 40 or higher OR BMI of 35 with co-morbidities. They cover it at 90% if you go to a participating facility, of course that would be a Legacy Hospital. lol. I'm not sure of the waiting period for new employees/spouses, but I am adding my dh to my policy, because his specifically excludes it. I guess his insurance would rather pay to take care or his arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and gerd than to pay for surgery. too bad! anyway, look at legacyhealth.org hope this helps. -keri
