need of support
Hello I have never posted on here, just found out about the site it is so great. I had my surgery 9/9/03 in Klamath Falls and so far I feel great.first few weeks were hard to get threw with no energy and all but I would do it again. It has dropped my insulin intake over half and my blood surger has never been better. I have lost 32lbs but I have stopped loosing and it is driving me nuts I cant seem to kick start it again. I just joined the gym so maybe that will help with it, can someone tell me if they have gone threw the same thing so I wont go out of my mind about this.
HI Kim,
Thank you for the email. On the main message board there are lots of members who are post-op. I find their profiles an informative reflection of their weight loss journey. Click on their names and it will take you to their profile page. You can go to their surgery support page and let them know how much their page helped you. On my profile there is a link to the Bariatrics that gives a realistic chart of how your weight loss should go, start with you beginning weight, and I put in that I want to know the numbers with 100% excess weight loss. (Nothing like shooting for the moon.... There are links to other members stories on my page too. If you would like to have your profiled made unique to you then you can request it. Sharon Neva did mine and her story is so inspirational. You do lose a lot the first month, then the average loss is 15 pounds a month after that, some it is less, but remember, this is a lifetime journey so give yourself some time, it is going to come off.... There is a lot of talk from the post-ops about platuas (sp?). Are you going to support group meetings in Medford? I go to the ones here in Klamath Falls, I like hearing about the challenges that the post-ops (heeeheee, now I am one) have, and learning from them. 32 pounds is a lot to lose, congratulations ~~!!! Email me anytime. Melissa
Kim, I am pre-op, but I just wanted to say that nearly everybody I have talked to and all the profiles I read have had some sort of lag like this and I believe it to be perfectly normal. Joining a gym is an awesome idea though as it will help with your overall fitness and help tone and tuck you as you get smaller and smaller. Good luck!

Hi Kim- Haven't posted here in awhile and just thought that I would check in. I had Lap RNY on 6/20/03 and am down about 67 lbs. I notice that I get "stuck" for about three weeks and then I'll lose three or four pounds. This has been my pattern since about 3 months post-op. Hang in there, everyone is different but it will happen for you.
Hi Kim,
My surgery was two years ago but I still remember how Frustrating that first plateau was. If you ad strentgh training to your gym workouts, it will boost your metabolism a little to get you started losing again. I gained a few pounds after I first started strentgh training, but I lost inches before the weight started dropping again.
Good Luck!
Tammy
