Let's just pretend I have an extra bit o cash laying around...and I got to Mexico for surgery...what about after care? What are the estimated costs of after care? what needs to be done other than staple removal? Also, does the Dr in Mexico do your pre-tests for you there or here? If it is here, what are the costs? I am starting to save on November 1st, regardless of if I end of loosing my job or not.. Brandi

Brandi - For me I have had 3 labs post-op. I do have insurance so I don't know what the costs of that would be.. but you have to stay on top of your blood levels for certain things post-op. I am also taking Actigal for 6 months. That is to prevent me from developing Gall Stones. I am actually taking the generic for Actigal and the cost for that is $125 a month. Some Dr's in Mexico do tests and charge extra for that and with some it is included. With Dr. Aguirre your pre-op testing is included. The staple removal is not big deal. I do reccomend staying on long enough to have the Tube removed by Dr. Aguirre. But if you cannot then you can also do that yourself with instruction from Dr. Aguirre or from someone who has done their own. Personally I would not do my own.. but others have. Come on over to our patient forum Brandi and ask questions of Dr Aguirres patients. It is a great group of people.. http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/forums/?ID=A-1045621205 Most of us are there because we either don't have insurance or our insurance would not cover the surgery. You will find a wealth of information from people who understand where you are coming from!

Brandi another way of gathering info on surgery in Mexico is just gleaning through the profiles.. I had read every single one in Dr. Aguirres patient forum at least three times prior to going... I am not good about putting lots of info in mine.. but so many of the girls are. Go to the member directory in the patient forum link I gave you and just go through profiles.. some especially good ones for reading are Latrisha Nickle, Paula O., Lori Knox, Kat Ryan, Grace Smith ...they are all good and you can learn from each and every person there.. these just come to mind as having been of help to me along my way.. We also have chat every Monday night at 6:30 our time. You go to the Texas forum and then on to the chat schedule and you will see it there.
