Support Meeting October 4th
Announcing the first meeting of the monthly support group offered by Dr. J. Rabkin of Pacific Laparoscopy of San Francisco for anyone having had any weight loss surgery by any doctors, for their support people, or for anyone considering such surgery.
It will be held the first Sat. of each month beginning Oct. 4, from 4-6pm, in Portland, Oregon, at the Holiday Inn (Columbia Room), 1441 NE 2nd Ave. at Weidler St. (If you were coming off the Broadway Bridge, to the east side, the Holiday Inn would be on your right side, between the Broadway Bridge and MLK Blvd. On the east side, if you are on MLK or Grand, turn west on Clackamas St and go to 2nd. You'll see the Holiday Inn.)
This is one of the ways they provide ongoing support to their people in different areas of the country. It is also a very good way to get information about any and all of the stages of this experience. At this meeting, you'll meet Dr. John Rabkin and Barbara Metcalf RN & Program Director.
These are two very smart and very personable folks who will offer a great presentation and answer any questions you may bring.

Lesa.. I am not going to be able to make it to the meeting.. I was looking forward to getting together with you and Sheri more than the actual meeting.. please let me know when you guys are getting together again and I will be sure to come up.. if this turns out to be a good meeting I will come next month.. Please let us know what you think of it!
You know, I had this feeling today that I should check the board before leaving... I'm so sorry you won't be able to make it. I was also going just to get together with you and hear about Mexico, etc. Bummer. LOL. Oh well, we'll have to plan it for another time. As soon as I know when our little gang is getting together, I'll let you know. In the meantime, if you are planning a trip up this way, or I'm heading down there, let's talk. Have a great day. -Lesa
Yes I am a breeder I have lots of doggies.. Scotties, Tibetan Terriers, Long Haired Chihuahuas, and I have raised ****ers for over 17 years.. now the trend is toward ****apoos so I am doing those with my ****ers.. I used to raise Dobies but now I have just two that do gate duty.. I live very close to I-5 .. when I bought this place I was a single mom to 2 very young kiddos and the Dobies made us feel very secure.. Everyone on our road knew we had 6 BIG dogs... Houses got broke in to on both sides of our little farm.. never once did anyone think about coming here .. that's the way we like it! I also raise Paint horses.. though I just sold my stallion so this next springs babies will be my last.. and I have dabbled in exotics for all of my adult life and at one time I had 16 monkeys and a baboon.. Right now I am wanting to cut back on that kind of stuff and enjoy a little more freedom. You can see these critters on my little home page http://community.webtv.net/cjcody/cjsplace If you use AOL that link will not work and you will have to email me for an AOL friendly link...
Is the group open to VBG patients? I've been involved in other support groups but they tend to have quite a bit of hostility towards successful VBG patients. I don't know anyone else that has had WLS, and it would be great to be able to share support.
