Hi Everyone! Tommorrow is my pre-op appointment with Dr. Raul Mirande in Klamath Falls. Ihave read what post-ops have said about him and Ihave total confidence in him. However....went with a friend of mine to a doc's appointment in K.Falls yesterday and a doc she knows said he would NEVER refer ANYONE to Dr. Mirande because of all the complications his patients have had. His nurse said she wouldn't send her dog to Dr. M! I told this doc that I had heard nothing but good things about Dr. M and he said "Have you talk to any of the ones he botched?" HELP! Just need a tiny bit of reassurance here.

Hi, Mary. I've been reading this website for long enough to trust what I read here. Especially against what other doctors say about their brethren doctors. First, I think it's incredibly crappy that the doctor and nurse are badmouthing a doctor that you're scheduled to have surgery with. It seems unethical. But if you're concerned, I'd suggest you call your surgeon and ask him directly what his statistics are, and whether there is any truth to what your friend's doctor said. Shoot, I'd even name names, so they can ha**** out later without you. Also, keep in mind that we (the morbidly obese) are going to have more complications than most, especially for the super obese. It may not be the surgeon's fault. I'd be direct and ask Dr. Mirande. Good luck to you!! -Lesa in Portland

Stay positive Mary, My surgery is tomorrow. Have you talked with Dr. M about This? I think maybe you just have the jetters. Believe everything willl go smoothly and it will. I 'll give you my angels to protect you if you feel you need them. It will be just fine , My prayers are with you. Just talk to him and make that decision yourself, don't go on what other people say. This has to come from you. And only you can make that choice. Take care of you, Monica

So how did it go? What kind of instructions did you get? When is your surgery? I would make my own mind up about your dr.! I agree that it wasn't very ethical of another dr. to talk about another in that respect. If you feel comfortable with him--is what is important!! You'll be a whole new person when this is all over..... Good Luck to you! ~Sheri~

Hi Mary--how did all the testing go today? I am thinking about you! Your surgeon sounds so good--I like when they take their time and explain stuff to you--surgeons aren't always known for being the best with bedside manner! My surgeon, althought very nice---seems always rushed---one hand on the door ready to hit the next patient. I bet your nerves are a lot calmer now after having such a great appointment with him. ~Sheri~
