My friend had her surgery.....
And ended up with a collapsed lung and in icu for an extra couple of days. She is home and doing ok now but my hubby now has refused to let me appeal the insurance and to have this surgery. He is too scared that something will happen to me--I have asthma already and he is just sure that a collapsed lung would kill me. Any advice on how to handle him, while I appeal the insurance?
Oh, man, that's hard. I'm glad your friend is OK! My only thought would be to remind him that having asthma and being MO is likely to kill you eventually, as will any other co-morbs...at least if something like this were to happen during surgery, you'd be right there under doctor's care and would be well taken care of. It's a calculated risk with as many safety precautions as possible, rather than living with a ticking time bomb of ill health that will eventually go off when you're not expecting it.
Good luck!
