My timeline so far and waiting.....
RNY on 02/29/12
Hello all,
I searched OH for info on Legacy Weight Management's time line, but most of it is out of date. I know the Legacy has changed their "program" a little over the years, So I am trying to find members who have gone more recently for their time line.
I have been in the process of WLS for over 2 year long years now. "sigh"
I can finally see the finish line in the far distance. BTW I have UHC choice plus gold tier plan with OptumHealth for Bariatric Resources
So far I have done or scheduled to do:
1/2010: Call UHC. Was transferred to OptumHealth to check eligibility.... I'm eligible BUT have to waiting until my husband works with has employer for 2 straight years. I was told to call back around May 2011
5/10/2011: Called back and talked again to enrollment person. They emailed me my insurance requirements and paperwork/form for 6 months of supervised diet. I was told to call back in Nov. to get my RN case workers. At this point I was excited!
5/10/2011: Started Weigh****chers as a extra kick off to 6 month diet.
6/2011: Saw my PCP and started my supervised diet. She signed off my form....
11/09/2011: Called and was officially enrolled! Have my RN case worker. She is very nice! Was told to setup appointments with Legacy. BUT Still have to wait until Feb. 1st because of husbands employer requirements "sigh"
11/09/2011: Called Legacy started the process with them. I have all my appointments scheduled out.
12/16/2011: Saw my PCP for the last of my 6 month diet.
01/09/2012: Blood work again.
01/2012: REE testing done.
Up and coming next month:
First week of Feb. 2012, More blood work, Welcome meeting, EKG, Pyshc testing, nutritionist, Physical therapist, meet with surgeon.
Mid Feb. Sleep Study
And After ??? I am wondering day and night about after approval .... how long until I go into surgery? Any thoughts about the process?

I just finished the OWLS program w/ Dr. Patterson, next door to Legacy Weight Management. My surgery was a week ago.
I applied for the program at Legacy Weight Management and considered it. I had my pre-op care there, but I believe Dr. Patterson at OWLS to be the more experienced surgeon.
Read my profile blog to see how long each step took. It was very long, very frustrating, and very expensive. The cost of co-pays and prescriptions were high, but I never considered giving up. I think the end result will be worth it.
Good Luck!
