Anyone here went to Legacy Weight managment?
I just had my RNY on 8/29/2011. This Week! I went through Oregon Weight Loss Surgery (OWLS) and my surgeon is Dr. Patterson - Great. By the time you get to this point you have worked so hard to get here. I had no questions going in and this forum is invaluable! I have spent my first week throwing-up though gently I have just kept pushing the fluids and doing my best. One thing I was not prepared for was the curtling of my dairy products - but getting past that too. Passed my gas today and started my liquid bowls moving now. I assume this too will pass. I know this all sounds negative but I don't see it that way. Again I worked so hard to get here and I expected so much worse. If this is as bad as it gets I am thankful. Good Luck!
I still have to have my sleeping test. And the darn 6 months supervision that my insurance requires. I'm hoping I'm not doing all these things in vain. I really need it. Oh, and I have heard of OWLS.
About what your going through. I would except some throwing up due to the fact we have to get use to our small pouch. But when it comes to your dairy, do you have to drink it. I'm not so sure that I could handle seeing the curdles. I've read that almond milk is OK to drink. I've had some before. It doesn't taste that bad.
One of the things that I'm a little afraid of it is the liquid diet. How are you handling that? And..another thing that I've heard is that,it's common for hunger and appetite to slow down for 6-12 months. How are you doing in that?

Dr Patterson requires a 3 day liquid diet prior to surgery with no bowle clense. I had a hard time with it on the third day but by the time I got to that point I wasn't screwing up - no way- and for someone who rarely eats hamburgers - I really wanted one. Post surgery no real cravings and I have not had a hard time with the liquid requirements either. I mean it is open to yogurt and cottage cheese and tomato soup I even bought potato soup to put through the blender and have not had the desire for that either. I think I am doing well and just a couple of days left of pain medication and I should be a little sore and brused feeling but that is all I expect.
I believe our minds can play hardball when we tell it "it can't have somethng!" I have told myself that long enought that I am good with it.
I wish you well. Legacy Weight Loss is right there with OWLS and I believe even share the post op group sessions/meetings.

Thanks so much for the post on Legacy. I'm moving to Portland this week and Legacy is the only WLS in Portland that's on my insurance program.
Looking forward to getting involved in OWLS. Although I'm 11 months post-op, I still enjoy the support groups and keeping focused on lifestyle changes.
My current doctor told me that Dr. Patterson is one of the best.

Thanks so much for the support group info. I need to sign up for the mailing list.
I was planning to go to the support group tonight. Even programmed it into the GPS so I could find it. But, I've come down with a killer cold the past couple of days and didn't have the energy to venture out. Hope to be there next month.

I am 11 1/2 months out from surgery and have hit my goal weight and lost 123 lbs now. 98 of that since my surgery 10-1-10. I have loved working with OWLS and I had no complications. I love the new life my RNY gave me!

The 6 months seems so long, but really I was so thankful for the time to prep myself for the journey that was ahead.

Dr. Patterson from OWLS was my surgeon also. My friend went through Legacy and was very happy with them. Dr. Patterson is going to be one of the speakers at the NW Weight Loss Conference at the end of the month. If you haven't heard about it, you should look into attending. I went last year and learned a lot and met some great people. http://nwweightlossconference.com/
