Groups in Portland Area??

I'm going to be spending some time in the Portand area starting in mid-March. I'd appreciate any info on local groups.

I had RNY last October.

OHSU in Portland has two "themed" meetings each month and then a "general" meeting once a month as well. It is open to anyone (the last I knew anyway) who has had surgery. Some places are doing the "you must have had surgery in our hospital to attend" meetings.

The OHSU support groups meet every 

second (CHH3178) Wednesday  from 10 - 11:30  - Themed meeting 
  
fourth (CHH 3180) Wednesdays- Post Op general discussion 

also 

second Tuesday (repeat of the second Wednesday themed meeting) from 6:30 - 8 PM

You are correct, OHSU's are open to everyone, pre or post surgery and you DO NOT need to have had the surgery at OHSU.

Thanks for the kind words. I just had my 4-month surgiversary and am thrilled with the results. My insurance company only covered one WLS clinic in my current state and, from what I've seen, they have the best results. Four co-workers went through RNY in 2010 and so far we've lost a combined total weight of 381 lbs. One of the guys reached his goal weight in 6 months. The rest of us are hoping to follow his example.

Our WLS clinic has a strict post-op diet that I'm still following. But, they also stress the importance of groups. That's one of the reasons I was looking for a group in Portland. Not sure I'm ready to "go solo" yet.

Wow! 381 pounds total!! That's fantastic! Maybe I'll run into you at one of the meetings. I'm trying to do the Tuesday evening one due to scheduling conflicts. Congrats again to you and your co-workers. Sounds like you are all doing an awesome job!!
