Hi, I would suggest going to Oregon Bariatric Center website.  They are affiliated with PeaceHealth and located in the RiverBend Pavilion Building.  They are a Center for Excellence.  I had my surgery through them in July 2010, a RNY with Dr. Jessica Folek.  She is a wonderful doctor.  The seminars are free as well as support groups.

One thing I have learned, is we have to take charge of our own healthcare.  Be proactive, it is your right and you know whats best for you.

Best of Luck,
Margie

The others have given you great advice about ins. and docs. I would urge you to fully investigate ALL of the other surgical options. The band is the least effective surgery, takes forever and sometimes never to get enough restriction to lose any weight and is just over all a useless way to lose weight. The only people I've seen it help is volume eaters but if you eat for any other reasons it is pretty much useless. I wish I had never wasted my time and energy with the band, it is also the slowest weight loss, I just can't say anything good about it. Plus you really can't eat a balanced diet, any pasta, bread or doughy foods get stuck, meat gets stuck even with gravy and raw veggies are impossible. I can eat cooked veggies but not ones that are fibrous like broccoli. It's just a pain trying to eat anything. So please I urge you to check out the other surgeries before you decide on the band!
