 Does OHSU do the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy?

Yes, they do a sleeve gastrectomy.  It is an alternate operation for weight loss, with a 4 ounces pouch.  Some people have increased weight gain.  Insurance I believe is now covering the cost, including medicare, since medicare had not considered it a viable operation.  It is actually a lateral gastrectomy ( remove part of the stomach), without any bowel changes.  

I had Dr. Deveney do a Gastric Sleeve revision from a mini-gastric bypass back in 2007.  It's not a standard surgery he does, but it gave me my life back.  I've maintained my weight now for 3 years.  I had been down to 92 lbs. with a MGB that was botched. If it wasn't for Dr. Deveny, I would not be alive today.  He tracks me closely, annually.
