Wow, Sorry you had such bad after care. I've had four surgeries there in four years and have ALWAYS had wonderful service! Sorry you had to deal with short-staffed problems! I know it does happen at times.

I have had several surgeries at OHSU and had both good and bad service.  I think that can happen at any hospital.  My RNY care was excellent.  If at any time you are at OHSU and getting poor service call or have someone call Patient Services.  As I mentioned I work for OHSU and so does my husband and we have used their services twice in situations where we did not feel we were getting the service we deserved.  They were very helpful.

That's too bad you received such bad care at OHSU.  I was a patient there for almost 4 months a couple of years ago and I received such wonderful care especially from the nurses.  I was kind of sad to leave in the end.  I've had to return several times since and always received great care from everyone there.  If I had the choice, it would be the only hospital I would ever go to again if I needed care....and believe me I know I will be needing care in the future.

 I had a spinal fusion in November 2008.  They couldn't finish the surgery in the first go-round, so they kept me for four days and then tried again.  I awoke from that surgery screaming in pain.  The nurse not only wouldn't give me more pain meds (albeit the orders she had been left with were to make me as comfortable as possible), but she turned the light off and shut the door on me.  A friend of mine arrived to find me screaming, crying, alone in the dark with no blankets.  NOT good care.

I had gastric bypass eleven years ago anfd I feel great! Dt. Tersigni at Bay Bariatrics has done wight loss surgery on nine of my family members. Bay Bariatrics is "A Center of Excellence" and the surgeon has thirteen years of experience.  He is awesome and the hopsital is fabulous.

  I just had Lap Band on the 16th at Bay Area in Coos Bay. Has anyone been there for surgery? Any problems or concerns? My surgery was great, and I feel fine  just five days out....

I wouldn't worry about qualifying. My only co-morbidity is GERD. My BMI is 40 and I was just approved by PEBB Providence for RNY. We tried hard to get them to approve the sleeve, but they wouldn't. I am going through Sacred Heart in Eugene.

I had surgery with Dr Tersigni (self pay however) in Coos Bay ( I live in PDX..) and I must say I recommend him constantly to anyone that will listen. He is fantastic as well as everyone I have encountered at Bay Bariatrics. I switched insurance (I have PEBB also) shortly after my surgery and wanted to transfer to someone closer to me, so had my records faxed to Dr Patterson's office and they never contaced me and never answered their phones! I am so happy for that now since I am still Dr. Tersigni's pt. and get the personalized care that I like. I don't feel like I am on a conveyer belt and my lapband has been a fantastic success (124 pounds down..woop woop!!). If your insurance won't cover it, they will hook you up with a way to finance.
