Okay bmi  41.5  appointment OCT 27th.  I will need to lose 5% that will put me under 40.  Any suggestions? I am begining to worry about qualifying.  I have major knee pain. borderline sugar levels- horrible heartburn.  And really really would love the surgery around DEC 15th so I can have 2 weeks off.  Am I dreaming?

I have the same insurance and a similar BMI.  Your Surgeon's program will get you approved for the pre-testing you need, it sounds like you may have enough to qualify.  Your job will be to lose the 5%.  Get started onlosing it as soon as you have an official weight recorded with the surgeon's office.  While you are losing the 5% you can do the pre-test requirements.  As soon as you hit the 5% let your surgeons office know and they will seek approval for the actual surgery.  It can be done.  I started on July 1st and had my surgery on September 22nd.  I could have had in late August but the surgeon was on vacation.

I have BC/BS PEBB.  My BMI was 40.1 at my first appointment -- that's what counts.  Yes, I had to lose 5% before surgery and that put me under a BMI of 40, but I was there BEFORE the 5%, so that was what mattered.  My BMI is now 27 -- life is good.  Enjoy the ride.
