Any Salem Hospital Patient's out there????

I was just wondering if there are any Salem Hospital Dr. Boulay's patient's here.  I looking forward to a surgery date in October.   Just wanted to chat.

Hi Laura,

Dr. Nair did my surgery around 14 months ago.  I saw Dr. Boulay for some of the follow-ups since Dr. Nair was on vacation at that time.  I'm hoping to go to the support group meeting tomorrow night.  Will you be there?

I wish I could be a Salem Hosptial patient. My husband works for Salem Hospital but they won't do my RNY surgery because I already have a Lap Band (having lots of problems with it) and am switching, hopefully, to the RNY. I am considered a "revision" patient and Salem Hospital is a newer program that doesn't do revisions yet. So.... I am forced to look elsewhere and petition Great West Healthcare to approve my surgery elsewhere. But... I may attend some of there support groups if it works out.

Sorry to hear about your situation.  Yeah,  The SMH program is newer.  How long have you had your Lap band and what types of problems are you having?  Several people at work have had the lap band but I figured RNY would be for me.   Laura

Any word on Salem's progress toward a COE certification? I'd rather not travel to Portland, but as a higher BMI patient, maybe that is the better option for me.

Patty,  Salem Hospital has just announced that they are COE certified.  It is all over the hospital website.  Salemhospital.org   Laura

I'll be going thru Salem Hosp for mine as well.   They really seem to have a good program.  Good to know there are other locals out there.
