Off to the Plastic Surgeon in the Morning!

I'm going to see Mark Jewell tomorrow about a scar revision to my tummy - possibly resulting in a tummy tuck - and a possible breast lift.  I don't think I need an augmentation, just would like them back where they belong.  I'll let you all know how it goes.

I understand that your consult has since been completed.  Hopefully you will be getting what you wanted.

Best of luck, Linda!

Well, I've chatted with the Plastic Surgeon (Mark Jewell, very nice man) and my insurance company.  BC/BS says that the doctor should write to them asking for pre-authorization, since I have a nasty puckered and keloided scar that extends from my pubic bone to my lower left ribcage (this is from part of my spinal surgery -- they had to get my damaged discs out through the front).  It would be rather easy to accomplish a tummy tuck while excising the scar -- just have to take a bit more tissue.  Of course, there would be some lipo too, so I could pay for that part.  It would be great to have most of this paid for by insurance.  The cost isn't too horribly bad, but I'd like to pay as little as possible -- of course!  It would definitely be nice to get rid of this scar.  It can be very painful, especially when I cough or sneeze.  I just hope the new scar would heal more nicely.

Hi Linda,  I know it has been awhile since you posted this message but I was wondering what happened with your prior auth. and when or if you are going to have surgery.  I am sure he can help with the scar.  Hope all is going well with you.  I am working out of town a lot and don;t keep up as much as I would like on OH.  I need to be involed as I am starting to gain and need to get back on track.  Up about 15 pounds and I swore that would never happen.  Gotta stop the carbs!!  Julia

Hi Julia - I wrote to Dr. Jewel and outlined everything I needed for the scar revision/tummy tuck and he had Edie call me and tell me he can't help me with my scar.  Geez!  First it was no one could help me with my back, now no one wants to help me with this horrible scar.  If I get the flu this year, I will go out of my mind.  The pain when I cough or sneeze is incredible.  I guess I will probably have to find a surgeon in Portland, as I did with my back.  I hate having to go that far away.

That is too bad.  That surprises me. Did they say why he couldn't do it?  Too big or too deep or what.  Could he recommend someone who might?   Julia
