OHSU patient support groups

I had my surgery on March 11th of this year and have been attending some of the three Bariatric Support Group sessions offered at OHSU.  At one of the last meetings we had talked about starting an on line support group so that HSU patients all over Oregon could connect with other patients in their area.  I realize that is also what OH is used for but if you are interested and are a member of Facebook.  I have started the Bariatric Support Group for OHSU Patients if you are interested.  I am posting the monthly support group meetings, articles, news events.  The site is open to all but my description of the group reads "This is a group for people who have had, are preparing to have or are thinking about having bariatric surgery at OHSU. This group stems from the monthly support groups that happen at OHSU in Portland.

The goal of this group is that people will be able to share their successes, goals, information and struggles while networking with other patients that had their surgery at OHSU."

You can contact me directly ([email protected]) or go to our group page, join and post.

Thanks

Too bad that you are limiting it to only OHSU patients.  Wonder what makes you so special?

Obviously you did not read her post completely. She did state that it was open to any and all patients. OHSU patients..   I to am sorry you read it wrong.

It has nothing to do with being special and it is open to all people.  The reason I mentioned OHSU patients is that they are the reason I created the group so that I could share information from the monthly group meetings and the dates of the group meetings.  I actually do not find OHSU Bariatric home page very useful as far as information for patients goes and just wanted to help disseminate information that I and other OHSU patients might find more useful.  I am sorry that my post made you feel the way that you did.  Not my intention.

Hi Chelsea,

Great idea, even though this is a great site not everyone is a member or signs on here. I know Facebook is becoming more popular so great idea. I have been to a few of the meetings and remember someone making this suggestion. You should make sure you let Vicki or Sharon know so they can pass the word along.
Its just another outlet option.

I did read her entire post, guess I just mis read it. Chalk it up to old age, and I should apologize for sounding so harsh.  I was having a bad dad.  So sorry.  I know we ALL need to be supportive of each other.

Pam~

Thanks for the suggestion.  I have notified both Shannon's, Vicki and the gal who sends out the monthly support group emails.  There is a lot of information out there and I hope the Facebook group will eventually grow and be useful to others.

I am having lapband surgery 10/16/09 in Mexico, but I would be VERY interested in being involved with folks in Portland for support.
