had surgery yesterday @OHSU
Wow so I had surgery yesterday morning, and today I am able to drink water and have jello and broth. I am so excited! I only have a little bit of pain, mostly just nauseous. I think I get to leave tomorrow. Just wanted to tell you all, I am bored my family is gonna visit soon though. YAY I actually did this!
Maycus,
My husband had Dr. Swanstrom. We both thought a lot of him. Your going to be in very good hands. He's a very well known surgeon. He has a home in France and teaches there as well. Trust me he's one of the best out there. If you want to give me your email address. I'll email back and give you my ph# just incase you need to talk.

Congratulations on your surgery and being able to drink water and take in other fluids! You were in very good hands with Dr. Deveney!
I did experience some nausea the first nite, so the nurses adminstered some anti-nausea meds thru my IV. I also sipped water frequently to counteract the nausea.
Best of luck on your safe and successful recovery!
(How were you able to post from the hospital? From your laptop?)

I had gastric bypass. Yes I posted in the hospital. I am still here but getting released today. I have a 2 and a half hour car ride to home. Do I just drink or eat and drink on the ride home? I am nervous that I will get nausous and get sick in the car.
The one thing I am a little upset at is that the nurse or nurse tech at night didn't set my cpap correctly so my humidifier was set to 1, and it shouldnt be any less than 3. Needless to say my nose is all bloody. yuck!
I have to remind myself that I have to take it slow. The pain isn't so bad, so i might forget. How do you remember not to bend down, twist, or pick things up that may be over 5 pounds?

I take it that you have already taken the car ride home. Hopefully, you had a bottle of water to sip during the trip.
"How do you remember not to bend down, twist, or pick things up that may be over 5 pounds?"
I used a grabber to pick things up or to take things down off shelves for about the first 6 weeks. I used a full gallon jug as a guide for the weight restrictions.
