so i have surgery on the 28th with dr o'rourke at ohsu, and i am either coming down with a cold or i have very bad allergies. i dont know which it is. i thought it was allergies at first but then i started having a cough with a lot junk in my chest. i am taking every precaution to make sure i am better by then and trying to stay away from anyone who is sicky. but i am just afraid if i do have a cold still when surgery comes , that they might reschedule. dont know what to do......ahhhhh. losing my mind. i am so close i dont want anything to screw it up.

I remember having a cold prior to an in/out surgery in 1980, but it was getting better.  The nurse anesthetist at a PAT clinic checked me the day before my operation.  She advised me that since my lungs were not affected, the surgery would proceed as scheduled.  My recovery was uneventful.

Hopefully, your lungs will clear up in time for your surgery.  If you have any concerns, then call Dr. O's office.

Best of luck on your safe and successful surgery and recovery!

Best wishes on your surgery tomorrow!! Dr. O'Rourke is great and he'll have a team of people checking up on you.  Make sure you have a friend or family member with you in the hospital though.  OHSU is short staffed and the care can be slipshod.
