I have heard of ports flipping and revisions being required to right them up again.
Best of luck on your revision, Tina!

Hi, I'm Karene. I had an open RNY (proximal) with Dr. Eric Friedman at Good Sams on May 20, 2003. I've lost 183 lbs since my surgery. The smallest I weighed was 93lbs. Although I am glad that I gained weight I wish I could lose 10 lbs so that I can weigh the same as my middle daughter. I know if I just go in and have the excess skin removed that I most likely would lose that 10 lbs and a lot more but I am still waiting to be healthy enough to even exercise.

I have six kids, two step children and four of my own. Their ages run from 27 years to 7 years starting with a boy, four girls and then the baby boy. My husband is a retired veteran of the Air Force and chose to move here in Oregon where he grew up once his tour had ended.

I joined Obesity Help Forum so that I could research gastric bypass surgery and meet others that share my story. It is hard for people who haven't wanted this, are going to have it, or have had it already. Support is not only wanted but needed. Now I come for the understanding, assistance and to share what is going on with me in order to help and be helped.

Ask me and if I can, I will share and if needed, will help.

Hi!  My name is Joanne.  I'm one week post-surgery.  I've lost 15 lbs pre-surgery and 5 lbs post.  I'm still a bit sore from the surgery, and getting very tired of drinking my meals.  Have 3 more weeks on a liquid diet.  But I'm so happy I did this.  I can't wait to have an "after" picture!

Hey, JoAnn--I'm a "newbie" too--April 13.  I only have 2 weeks of the "smooth food" regimen and I'm already tired of it!!!  I'm sure we are not alone.  I had some cream of chicken soup tonight and was thrilled that there was a tiny bit of something chewable in it!  (It's ok, I didn't "inhale" so the speak.) LOL.

Hi All.  My name is Julie and I had a RNY laproscopically on April 3, 2009 at OHSU, Dr Deveney  and his team did a fabulous job.  I had a post op with my PCP and was down 22#'s in a little over two weeks yesterday.  The liquid diet is a challenge.  I am thankful for Cottage Cheese.  Its really whats gotten me through this period.  On to soft food next week.  Whoo hoo.

I'm Nancy and I had RNY with Dr. ORourke at OHSU on August 26, 2008. I lost 30 pounds before surgery, and have lost 99 lbs (!) since then. I was hoping to hit 100 on Monday the 6th, my 50th birthday, but just missed it. Next time!

I'm thinking about entering the Corvallis Fall Festival 5k fun run in September. Twelve  years ago, when I weighed 400 lbs, I always said I'd run only if someone was chasing me with a knife. Apparently, the knives are about to come out, as they say...

I am Taylor support person of my life companion and lover of 30 years my wife Linda. We started this adventure 2 years ago,  Linda had  a RNY last July . I remember the departure to surgery, Linda  smiling and me with an overwhelming  desire to scream STOP you butcher. Linda arrived back in her room a fews hours later, still smiling. She is doing wonderfully. A Wow for me was last fall when she came home from work and said Hey do you want to go for a bike ride. Going for walks , exercising together. This is wonderful.

Hi Everyone,
I'm Ellen from southern Oregon and I had Vertical Sleeve surgery 3/4/09. Done by Dr Jose Rodriques in Juarez Mx. I am very happy with my choice.

It has been quite the challange for me. My stomach is very quesy and I happen to be allergic to soy protein and intolerant to anything whey. I'm having to eat every 2 hrs to get enough calories yet I am still very low in calories and in protein. Mostly I can get in the 2-3 oz food mainly protein and have no room for anything else (vegies or fruit)  I finally found some plain egg white protein online which should be here this week so that will help. I plan to add some kind of green drink to my water to help with nutrients.I have been weighing my food and its easier for me such that I do not over or under eat. and I can recognize when I can eat a little bit more too.

I have released 31lbs at my 1 month date whi*****luded 10 days pre-op diet. I do not have much energy so thinking of have an infusion at my local naturapath.

I'm so glad to finally check in and say hello.

Blessing to all
Ellen

Hello, I had the lap band done in Eugene by Dr. Yarborough on February 9, 2009. I've had one fill since then and am needing more to really feel like I found my "sweet spot". But I've lost 40lbs including pre-op weight. I find I have good days where I eat small portions and healthier food and other days where I have a large appetite and eat things I shouldn't. I joined a gym and am exercising regularly and feeling good about that. I am doing good about getting my water in everyday as well. I'm trying to now break the habit of wanting to snack while watching a movie with my family.

Sounds like you are off to a wonderful start.  Just remember this is a journey and there will be hills and valleys along the way.

Keep up the good work!
