VSG in Oregon

Hello,

Has anyone had the VSG in Portland or somewhere in Oregon?  Would like to hear who your surgeon was and what you think.

Don't know of any surgeon who has performed VSG anywhere in Oregon.  Have you posted your question on the VSG board too?

Might try Dr. Steven Tersigni at Bay Bariatrics in Coos Bay.  Otherwise, the best bet is either Drs. Oh or Srikanth in Federal Way, Washington.  Here is their contact info:

My insurance won't pay for the DS and Dr. D. said he won't do it on me with my ulcerative colitis.  I contacted Dr. Rabkin's office and he would take the UC into consideration and wouldn't rule out doing the DS on me, but would need to see me.  I can't afford to go there right now.  So I'm researching the VSG now. I have come across lots of people who have gone to Dr. Alvarez in Mexico but haven't come across anyone in Oregon yet.   I called Drs. Patterson and Halpin's office at Oregon Weight Loss Surgery group and was told both of their doctors do it, but they couldn't tell me how many. 

I have posted to the VSG board this morning, but haven't gotten any responses from someone having it in Oregon yet.

I had VSG in Mexico with Dr. Alverez.  I recommend him.

I know for sure that Dr. Srikanth performs the DS.  However, Dr. Oh has a reputation of attempts to dissuade patients from considering the DS and offering alternatives instead.

I have a friend in Oregon who went to a DR. in Washington for her VSG ,  her user name is Mona S.  let me know if you find her.

 Didn't Dancin Judy get a VSG revision?   Did you talk to the doctors and OHSU?  I believe she had her revision there but I am not sure if that was a special case and whether they are willing to do an initial VSG patient.

OHSU does not ordinarily offer VSG as a stand-alone procedure.  If a patient wants a VSG, then he/she will have to consider the DS.

dancinjudge got a revision to VSG from a MGB.  It was a life-or-death situation for her, and Dr. D saved her life.

Hallelujah! Yes he did!  And he only did the sleeve because my insurance wouldn't cover a revision to RNY that he wanted to do. They considered putting all my intestines back a "reversal" and therefore I got the sleeve.  He also made the sleeve "severe".  He did save my life.  Truly a wonderful surgeon.  But OHSU is not without major frustrations.  I will avoid going there if I can, unless it is life-threatening like mine was.
