Hi Robert:

I have Kaiser Permanente, and had the RNY done thru them on August 22, 2006.  Kaiser Sunnyside does not do the lap-band procedure, unless they changed their policy, They only do the open RNY.  You are welcome to attend the support group meeting the last Saturday of the month over at Sunnybrook, ( just adjacent to sunnyside hospital) if you have'nt already been .  The pre-op meetings run 2 hours, from 10 am till noon.  You will be able to talk to the dietician, Brenda Buck or the Medical social worker Julie Hanna.  They can probably give you some in sight to the surgery.

Hope this helps!!

Kaiser Sunnyside now does all their RNY procedures laproscopically! I had my surgery Dec 15, 2008 and everything went very well. The staff at Sunnyside are wonderful and very helpful in answering all my questions. Call Mary Lou Greenwood, the Bariatric Case Manager for more information about getting the process started. I beleive you have to be accepted into the bariatric program in order to attend the pre-op meetings, but I could be wrong about this.

Best of luck to you!

Kim

Anyone can go to the support group meetings, you do not have to be a member of Kaiser to attend..

Just to clarify...the meetings I was referring to are the informational pre-operative meetings at Kaiser Sunnyside which are for bariatric patients and support persons. The support group meetings are open to anyone and available in many locations. My apologies for the confusion.
