OSHU
Seriously Disgusted!
It has been (almost) 5 months since I went to the seminar and completed and faxed my packet to OSHU?
I still have not heard anything and I am seriously starting to get irritated.
I do not know what else to do! I have called and e-mailed and still nothing!
They keep saying that they are short staffed or they are going through reconstruction...are u kidding me 5 months of reconstructions....U GH!

Although I had my surgery at Good Sams, I feel for you and the only suggestion I have is it might take just that long to start over somewhere else. So find out what department supervises the WLS section and take it up with them. Complain as loud as you can and as often as possible. I believe someone will care enough to find out what the problem is and help you in making it right. We could right letters telling them of our displeasure regarding your treatment. We could also let them know that we will tell everyone who will listen that OHSU's WLS program is horrible and to give people other options.
As I said, I didn't have mine at OHSU but they were wonderful, the best during my high-risk pregnancy, birth of my son and his cancer treatment. I felt blessed to have such excellent care but understand that what is happening with you is unfair and undeserved.
Let us know how we can help you and your progress.

It's up to the individual. I have heard some not so good and frustrating stories about Legacy as well. I myself went through OHSU and had no problems. Sure it was a long process and frustrating at times, but its a process at any hospital you goto. I also work in the medical field and I know you have to be persistant when you want something. Things get fogotten, and slip through the cracks. they have so many patients. You need to follow up and follow up and follow up. Keep buggin them its the only way to get through and get the appointments. This is the same advice I would give no matter what the doctor/hospital or reason.
Good luck and my prayers and good wishes will be with you.

My experiences with the office staff at OHSU were frustrating, but it didn't take too long to get things taken care of, once I went around and picked up all my records and faxed them there myself. That way they couldn't tell me that they didn't get them. My surgeon was excellent. I had a slight fever while I was in the hospital and he visited me several times to make sure I was okay. The nursing staff, however, leaves something to be desired. My roommate, who could not walk on her own, was left in the bathroom, on the toilet, for over a half hour at a time waiting. I was fortunate that I could get up and walk to the desk if I really needed something. My recent surgeries at OHSU (two in the span of four days) left much to be desired. They were both on my spine, so getting up to get help was difficult. After my second surgery, I was in so much pain I was screaming. They shut my light out and closed my door, leaving me screaming in the dark. Not exactly the care I expect from a quality hospital. Yes, I am reporting them.

Linda I hope you are feeling better. Your experience tells me that everyone needs to have someone there with them as much as possible. Not only to keep an eye on things but to do all the litttle things that a need to be done. Our experience went well. I belive it helped for me to be involved from day one at the orientation seminar. For the sake of other patients and for OHSU I hope you press forward with your complaints.
Thank you for all your experience , strength and hope. My Linda is down 70 lbs and is doing great.

Thanks Taylor - yes, that is the most important thing, to make sure you have someone with you to watch over you and make sure things are tended to. I am so glad to hear Linda is doing well. Last I heard from her she sounded so full of joy. That is a wonderful thing. Bless you both.
