Hi  Everyone.  I know I haven't participated recently but always read the forum.  I have not been able to upload any new messages since the 30th.  Does it have anything to do with the large message I have been getting each time I try to sign on that says I need to become a member?  I just signed in again and was able to send this message so maybe there was a glich---imagine a glinch with a computer.  Anyway I am doing well.  I have a new job that has me traveling quite a bit and I love it.  Leaves me less time to participate in forums.  Hope to see some of you soon.  Julia

Hi Melody,  Yes I am doing very well.  I wish I had had this surgery a long time ago but at least now I am old enough, kids gone out of the house and have more money to spend on clothes!!  Oh and a very cooperative husband!!   I hope your surgery is scheduled soon.  Julia

I miss everyone too.  I do read the forum almost daily.  How's Nola doing??  You are looking good but need new pictures as do I.  Hope you fall/winter is a good one.  I am having a hard time realizing it is fall---I really like the warm weather but the fall colors are beautiful.  Julia

I am doing well. I have lost a total of 91 lbs. so far.  I just feel that my success doesn' t  compare to that of that of other's on OH.  Still, I feel better and look better than I have in a long time.  I don't' regret my decision at  ALL.  I know the RNY saved my life and gave me more time with the people I love. You have inspired me greatly during this journey Julia.

Thanks and God Bless.

Nola,  You are doing great.  91 pounds in a little over 8 months is good.  It took me 7 months to lose 100 and you are not far behind.  The loss does slow down but you will lose more.  The only regret I have is not doing it sooner as most of us feel, I think.  So many pluses with this surgery.  Julia

Hi Linda----How's your back coming along?  I know you were planning to see a new M.D. in Portland, I think.  Have you seen him yet?  Hope he can help.  I do know a great Neurosurgeon---a Veterianary in Gladstone!  She has done surgery on my dog twice now  (yes I know silly people we  are).  He is doing well and they are great.  MRI and surgery the day we took him up there and home the next day.  He could hardly walk, 90 % of spinal cord compressed) and now we have a hard time slowing him down.  Too bad people Doctors. aren't so fast and while the cost was a lot for a dog would be just a drop in the bucket for you!!!
My job is actually a promotion.  I travel from Medford to the Corvallis/Albany area as a nurse consultant for an assisted living company.   I would like to try to make it to your meeting on the 15th.  I will be in Corvallis and that is much closer than coming from Roseburg so may see you then.  Julia

It would be great to see you if you can make it on the 15th Julia.  Congrats on the promotion!  How cool is that?

I just firmed up the plans today.  I'm having a three-level fusion at OHSU on November 19th.  While three levels aren't generally recommended, I have a lot of arthritis along with the ruptured discs, making the bottom of my spine rather unstable.  The fusion will keep things from crumbling.  I'll have to be very careful to keep my core muscles strong.  Fortunately, I own a Pilates machine.  Now to pull it out permanently from under the quilting machine!
