I am 3 days post surgery

 Hello everyone,

I have mostly been a lurker on this board, but I thought it would be a good time to come out into the open since I just had my lap-band surgery 3 days ago.

So far, so good. Right now I know I am on the clear liquids diet, and should be trying for 60-90 grams of protein a day, but this is kinda challenging for me.

Are there any suggestions out there for good ways to get your fluids and protein...especially right after surgery?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks, and I look forward to hearing more.

Best,
Lucia

Grats on your surgery.  I haven't had the surgery so I can only give the advice that I've read which is to sip water all day long in order to get enough in and to figure out a protein mixture that you like, there was a post about protein powders in the RNY forum today that you might find helpful.  Good luck!!

Congratulations Lucia!  I hope you feel better and stronger every day.  I had the RNY, but I think it's pretty much the same at the beginning.  You just have to do your best to keep sipping and get in as much protein as you can.  I'm not sure any of us were successful in meeting the doctors' recommendations, but you just keep trying.  All the best to you!

At my most recent nutrition class last week, our dietitian mentioned adding powdered milk to drinks for a cheap protein boost!   I would've never thought of that.  haha.
