I would like to know what the pre-op diet is for lap band with Dr. T in Coos Bay.  I have a friend who is having surgery next month and she is under the impression that there is no pre-op diet because she is self pay.  I don't think this is true, but don't know for sure.

I was supposed to watch my carb intake with Dr. Patterson, and I pretty much did that and I ate smaller portions......

Thanks in advance!

I was at OHSU and was just told to take it easy and see if I could take a little off before surgery.  No liquid and no specific instructions for preop diet.  I was insurance pay but they obviously didnt specify it had to be done either.

I was pleased because the after liquids has been more than enough thanks!!!

I had my surgery there and they were pretty relaxed. Dr. T was going on vacation so they squeezed me in with only a few weeks notice. I was told to go on a liquid protein diet but no real specifics. I just happened to have been sick for a few weeks and had lost weight already!

I had the RNY with Dr T and am also self-pay, but they gave me a list of foods for the 2 week pre-op diet. She should contact Robin at the office and have her give her the list or at least make sure that she has to do the diet. They gave me a whole notebook of info. It should be the same for someone doing the band. Good luck!

$24900 whi*****luded everything but my psych eval. I also pay about $140 for my labs every time I get them drawn which has been 4 times so far. Good luck, and you can't go wrong with Dr. T. Everyone in his office is great, and I am so happy with my results.

I just had my lap-band surgery with Dr. Tersigni 3 days ago,  (self pay) and prior to my surgery I had to lose around 27 pounds.  This was done pretty much using the phase 1 diet--high protein and really watching calorie intake. Dr. T also gave me phentermine to help with appetite suppression, but honestly I stopped taking it because didn't like how it made me feel.

I do know that it is based on body fat %. My father is considering the surgery soon, and Dr. T told him to just maintain his weight. But he may still have to do the liquid diet thing the week before.

Tell you friend good luck, the people at Bay Bariatrics are great.

Hey there!!
I had Realize Band surgery w/ Dr. T on 4/1/08 and I had no pre op diet..I was told to eat a light meal the night before and that's it..
When I asked about the pre op diet I was told it depended on your pre op weight whether or not to have the pre op diet..my BMI was right at 40.
Hope this helps!!

I suggest you call them up and chat with Dr T's office stafff.  They are very nice, and of course, knowledgeable.
