Best-textured protein powder?

I just posted this on the RNY board, but me not know how to crosspost!

The unflavored protein that I bought is detestable. I'm moving to pureed food next week and I need a good-textured protein to add to my hummus and cheese and such. I've ordered some Unjury, but it won't be here til next Friday.

I don't shop at Costco, but I will be in Portland on Monday (and going to Trader Joe's), so I could use some ideas, please!

I've never tried an unflavored protein powder, so can't advise you there.  As far as the sort you drink, my favorite is the Designer Whey Pomegranate Juice Protein.  Not at all icky like the chocolate and vanilla ones and it blends up with water just using a spoon.  Tastes like fruit juice.

I like the whey proteins by far the best!  The unflavored unjury was anything but unflavored.  blechhhh.  I threw away  milk with it in it and some cream of wheat-very nasty stuff as far as i am concerned.  They whey has a bit of a texture but I didnt taste any flavor from it.

Hello,

I use Optimum Nutrition's Any Whey Unflavored protein powder.  I put it in my homemade "frappacino's" made with sugar free Torani syrups :P  It's also great to use in hot food and to bake with.

I order mine from Netrition.com because their shipping charge is only 4.95 for ground, but you can get it from a ton of places online, just Google it.

I am also trying NOW Foods Whey Protein Isolate unflavored this week, and it's not bad, a little more "proteiny" smelling, but decent.

There are a million protein powders out there, a lot of them very good.  I would recommend that you don't limit yourself to what you can buy in stores, do some shopping online :)  Syntrax makes awesome fruit flavors, Isopure makes really cool premixed bottled "teas" that are 40g of protein in a bottle, etc...

Grats on your surgery, and good luck!

my 2 cents for what it is worth (2 1/2 yrs out) is to either get isopure powders - choc or cookies and chream, strawberry or van and mix iti wth ice water and don't drink the bottom 1/8 of an inch LOL

I also do well with EAS powders (the RTD cans are to sweet to me) I like the chocolate and mix it with half crystal light and half milk in the morning and just CL the rest of the day (semi lactose in tolerant and can only do milk about ever 12 hours)

experiminet - relize that there are NO protien powders that taste like they came from dairy queen LOL

if you buy them from GNC or vit shop you can usually return the ones that you dislike with in 7 days for an exchange so you can try something else - then once you find something you tolotate well buy it on line where you can get it cheaper
I have had good luck sharing single servings iwth other post ops - I buy one or two kinds, you and a couple of others do also and next time w eall meet up we bring one serving of each we purchased for each person - then we bring home just as many as we took but all differnt kinds - have also done protien tasting support group meetings

took me a long time to relize that what I wanted was somehting that did not make me throw up or that I have not thrown up in the last 30 days or so - when I find that at a decent cost I am all over it - protien shakes are just part of my life - like going ot the bathroom - not  gold plating the potty in my house expecting it to be the most exciting part of my day - just want it to be decent and have the kids leave me alone whiel I am there LOL not expecting great taste from my shakes just decent taste and good nut

peace

The unflavored Unjury protein is the best.  It has no funky aftertaste and it melts in everything, hot or cold.  I put it in oatmeal, hot chocolate, etc..
