8 days until surgery-what should I stock up on at home?
I know this has been asked before on here but i guess i didn't really pay close attention to it until now that my surgery is coming up.
What did you all find useful for when you came home from the hospital? I am having lapband but i think we all have similar requirements when we get home.
Should I stock up on protein powder? or did normal old food work just fine? soups? I am kind of sensitive to milk and avoid it most of the time. Please any advice would be great!!

Gosh Tina, it is almost your turn for surgery. You must be so excited! I remember I stocked up on cream soups. My favorite was Campbell's bean and bacon soup. I would run it thru the blender then drink it like a beverage. It saved me while I was on liquids.
I did buy the protein powder, but only used it for a couple of weeks, so I wouldn't go overboard. I would also mix it in with my soups.
Best of luck!
The "Bariatric Grocery List" was distributed at the surgery prep class that you attended. It should be in your dark blue folder.
If you like, you can order samples of protein powder from unjury.com or vitalady.com. You might also go to a Vitamin Shoppe store in downtown Portland (on the NE corner of 4th/Taylor), Jantzen Beach, or Tanasbourne. The store has more than plenty of supplements.

Hi Tina!
I was bummed when I learned that your surgery date last May was postponed due to your health problems. Then your surgery date in August was changed again because your surgeon was going out of town. Hopefully your current surgery date won't be changed again. Keeping my fingers crossed!
My weight sure is falling off! I have lost at least 45# since surgery and 63# altogether. The hot weather is a bit more bearable than when I was pre-op. But I still turn on the fans!
Best of luck on your surgery day!

Hi Tina - I didn't have a band so I'm not sure what all you can eat, but if you're looking for something to flavor your water, I've been buying and herbal tea at Trader Joe's that is called Fruit Infusion. I've seen it in blackberry and raspberry so far. It makes great iced tea when mixed with Splenda. Really helps get the fluids in!
Good luck with surgery. We'll scoot down on the bench to make room for you!
