Shall we talk bras?!?

I'm still waiting for my ship to come in  -  so I can get reconstructive surgery.  In the meantime I am stuck with shoring up what I've got!

I have only had luck wearing the Lillyette minimizer bra.  They run in the low $20s on sale - which I thought was spending more than a lot of other bras.  I saw the Oprah show and should have been moved to believe there is a bra out there I was destined to discover.  Ehh!   I watched one of those make over shows on lifetime recently.  The woman had my bust look (I'm still a DD and feel like while the minimizer one keeps me still and supported I often think in pictures my chest is still looking "low").  I was so impressed with the change her new bra brought about that I got my lazy but on the computer and googled the name of the bra.

The bra I ordered from Bare Necessities was a shocking (for me anyways) $78.  It cam and I didn't put it on for about a week.  Off of me it looks huge and stiff and I didn't think I was gonna like it.  One day I finally wore it and I love it.  It's engineering seems to do much better with what I've got.   I have to say I am a convert and I'm buying another one.  It's comfortable and I think things look better.  I got the one "Oprah loves" but there is lots of kinds.  They have sizes up to a G cup.

Hey Patty - I've been ordering from Bare Necessities for a while.  I generally get an Olga minimizer there.  What is the particular brand you bought there?  I also seem to have low riders - just a D.  I could probably get the BL/BA now, but I want to wait till I'm done losing and I hope to have the tummy tuck done at the same time.

It's the Le Mystere.  My mother started me on the get the minimizer bra a long time ago.  This bra seems like the opposite of that when it's off - but on I think it does more for me than my other bras.

What kind of insurance do you have?  I only ask because when I was 16 and had lost a bunch of weight I was a 38DD.  My insurance covered a reduction because there was enough to take off to be deamed medically necessary.  You might be able to get it covered through insurance if doctor's determine they can take enough off and if it is causing back pain, discomfort, etc.

I now have Blue Cross.  I don't have any back pain and my ortho doctor said where my shoulder hurts isn't likely related to heavy breasts.  Until recently, I was a DD even though I was pretty delated and it seemed mostly to be skin.  I recently went on estrogin and I have really filled out.  When I get my surgery consult I will inquire about it.  I know the insurance requires them to be able to weigh xx amount of tissue removed to pay for it.  I also haven't gotten one darn rash with all my panni skin down below.  No hernia either!

Patty,

The "breast" tissue issue is rather an open question.  Where does the breast end and the auxilla begin?  A good surgeon will take some from that area as well if they are a little short of their goal for insurance.  I think as long as your insurance will cover the procedure you will do fine.  Shoot, if my surgeon can call an UBL a "revision" and the outer thigh lift a "revision" they can do about anything!!!!

So when are we going to get together for lunch??  Lets see if we can't do that in the next couple of weeks!

I too got bra advice from the Oprah show.  I pay the big bucks (50-80 dollars depending on sales) from Nordstrom for the Le Mystere bra that she says she wears.  They are hard to pack for vacations and a little embarrassing to take off in public because there is no folding these things-they are the same shape off as on your body.  But and this is a huge but-the girls stand at attention! I am pre-surgery and currently a DDD.  When I wear this bra I can wear the cute smock tops and have my boobs stay in the part where they are supposed to instead of dropping below the gathered fabric.  One of my worries about losing weight is that I wont be able to find a bra that will be so good!

I will hopefully be able to afford or get insurance coverage for the plastics after weight loss-I see boobs and a tummy tuck in my future.

You know of what I speak!!!  I took it off and put it on the floor behind our bedroom door the first night.  It was hanging on the hook in our closet the next day.  I didn't remember to ask my husband until a few days ago if he happened to pick up a very large looking bra in our room.  He said with a look that said he had noticed it's shape/size "why yes I did".   I had to show it to my daughter then because she over heard.  Don't worry...when you lose weight your options grow - even in the bra department!

First of all, you look so wonderful! I'm 6 months in and feeling like I need a wonderful bra but want to wait for more weight loss before I drop the bucks. Thank you for the info, it sounds like a great bra and I will need that! I'm still at DD too but they are getting to be very weak at standing on their own and it's only going to get worse as I lose. What bra did you get? I'm going to check the web site out. Becky
