I find it odd that you don't know what surgery you are having, especially this late in the game.  I knew from the onset which WLS I wanted, and pursued that option.

My approval took about 2 weeks, but each insurance company is different.

Best of luck!

Which Dr. are you using?  And your individual surgery hasn't been discussed?  You weren't allowed to consult with your Dr. about your particular surgery?  Strange..........................................really strange.

Dr. Wolf is my surgeon.  During my consult he basically said that they leave it up to the patient to decide.  There are of course considerations to be made such as scar tissue and related illnesses that might limit your options but for the most part you have to do your research and figure it out.  my approval with United healthcare too about  month (give or take a bit for clerical mess ups at OHSU).  I dont think your surgeon does lapband and I do think OHSU is a big fan of RNY (their most common surgical procedure).  During the seminar-of which i think Dr. D spoke-he sang the praises of RNY over any of the others.  I felt it was pretty obvious which one he preferred.  I would suggest you start doing your homework and think about what you want because ultimately unless you have extenuating cir****tances its up to you.

Im going for lapband  but that was a decision after a lot of discussion with my husband and research I feel is best for me.  any of the others might be equally good or better for you!
