Doing Great

I am feeling great!  I am so happy that I finally got to have this surgery.  Yes, drinking liquids can be a drag, but losing the weight is even better.  I am able to easily drink my fluids and protein shakes since the swelling has gone down, I have noticed that I can drink a cup of fluids without restriction, but I am also being very careful.  I have decided to start getting used to drinking before meals and not drinking with meals even though I am on fluids right now trying to get used to the routine.  I am looking forward to eating pureed foods.  I have decided not to buy baby food it tastes terrible and instead I ordered a baby food mill from Lehmans.com so I can cook and then grind by hand what I cook without using a noisy blender and I can take it with me where ever I go.  In the first week of August I will be back up at Good Sam to see the dietician, then have an upper GI, and finally see Dr. Jan.  I decided to see him only because I would rather do it all in one day instead to two seperate trips since fuel is so costly.  I will be driving up from Independence.  I am disappointed that it wouldn't be Emma for my first visit, but that's ok.

Sheryl,
This is such great news. I can't believe it's been five days since your surgery. You are doing terrific.
I love your idea of the food mill for pureeing your foods. I am going to check into that.
Congratulations on all your hard work,
Vicki

Hey Sheryl - I'm so glad to hear you're doing well.  The baby food mill sounds like an excellent idea.  I blended most of my food with a Braun stick blender.  I didn't like throwing everything in a regular blender and all the noise and mess of that either.  Actual baby food from the store can be some nasty tasting stuff.  All the best to you!

Linda
