At what point after lapband surgery will I be able to enjoy salads and sandwhiches?

Hi, my name is Sheryl and I just had my lap-band surgery on 7-9-08 so I am on liquids currently.  From what I understand that after the two weeks of liquids, then two weeks of pureed foods, then you can gradually introduce foods slowly one at a time and chew it till its mush.  They would prefer you to hold off on rice, pasta, bread because they have a tendency to gum up in your new stomach and cause you some discomfort.  I too love salads and sandwhiches.  I plan to try small salads with just lettuce and dressing, and gradually add raw veggies one at a time because I don't want to get sick.  So try to be patient and take is slow, we both have worked hard to get this far.  Sandwhiches will be the last thing I will try.

Hi Sheryl, I'm Mary.  I had my surgery on June 30th and have healed nicely.  They switched me onto pureed foods one week ago because i was so hungry.  I haven't really found anything that makes me sick.  I can take in water like crazy.  I'm feeling much better since being on softer foods rather than just the liquid phase.  I've even found tuna and crackers to be fine.  I've lost 17lbs in 13 days and feel great.  I've only had a morning or two that i didn't feel that energetic.

How are you feeling?  How much have you lost since your date?  What kind of stuff are you eating?

Look forward to talking with you, Mary

forgot to ask if you had lap band or gastric bypass... I had bypass. That probably makes a huge difference.

I had lapband and i just prepared it with some mayo and relish.  I ddin't puree it just put some on my wheat thins and ate away.  Probably about 1-2 oz.  It was so good.  Lately I'm on a chili kick, tastes great  and is nice and spicy.
