medical necessity for plastics?

ok called the insurance and the tummy tuck has to medicaly necessary, other than the rash that I can keep away what else would be a medical reason   for a tummy tuck? I am going to let the dunlop rash get bad and go to the DR for pitcures  oh yea news in my life my youngest daughter 17 is pregnant  ok one day a time right?

Hi Kelly - yes, the rash should be enough for medical necessity.  At least, that's what I've heard from others.  I have a rash, but I haven't lost all I plan on losing (trying like hell, but it's not coming off ) so I can't plan on plastics yet. Linda

I hear you linda, I still have about 35 to loose and have lost nothing for 6 months, figure I will go ahead with the plastics if I can get it done, funny now that I want the ra**** is not around LOL go figure

The nurse practitioner told me during my first visit at OHSU to start documenting tummy rashes so that when it came time to look at plastics that the pictures and documentation for necessity would be done. Of course I havent done that-but it is food for thought at any rate. Tina

sure wish I had been doing that all along, I have gotten so good at keeping the rash away its been a while but I would like to get this done before the end of the year

It just so happened that I had one heck of a rash when I went to my first PS visit.  She took pics and sent off to insurance, but like everything else associated with this it was denied.  My breast lift/reduction was denied as well.....but then so was the WLS so why am I so suprised.....
