Not sure what's up with Susan lately.  I really liked her when I met her last year, but over the past six to eight months she has been abrupt, *****y and often downright rude.  I do my best not to communicate with that office if I can help it at all.  I have my yearly check up next month and I think, unless it is some life-threatening problem, I won't be going back there again.  No one needs that hassle. Wow, so sorry you had a bad visit.  This makes me leery.  I have my appt on July 8 and I hope she's not cranky with me.   It doesn't sound like Susan knows much about the DS if she is saying you will have diarrhea 10 times a day. That's not true.   Did she say why Dr. Deveney doesn't like to do them?   I'm thinking I want the DS too and I hope they don't hassle me about it.  Have you met with the nutritionist yet?   I have an appt with both of them the same day.   Hang in there.  Sooner or later we will be done with all this stuff and on the losing side.   Linda

It does seem very backwards that we can't see the surgeon to make our final decision on the procedure we want.  It's total opposite of what you do for other types of surgeries.  Usually you see the surgeon first and then get approval (I'm talking for other medical problems not WLS here).  But in the WLS you have to do everything first and then see the surgeon.  The only thing I can think of why is that they are so busy with them, they want to just see the patients who are totally committed to having it done and don't want to waste their time seeing everyone who is just contemplating having WLS.    I don't think I will make up my mind 100% about the DS until after I talk with Dr. Deveney.   I want to hear what he thinks from his own mouth, not others speaking for him.   And that sickly man Susan was talking about... maybe he doesn't keep track of his vitamin levels, etc. and he is just one man, not all DS'ers.    So Susan is the one who determines how much weight to lose beforehand?    Did they make another appt for you or do you just call when you've had the rest of your testing done?    Linda
