hi all! i am cindy, just moved to lake oswego in the portland area 2 weeks ago. i had a VSG on march 18, 2008. i have lost 34 pounds, seem to hang on plateaus (i like that word better than stall for some reason) for awhile, then i start moving again. i have recently started p  at the gym, a great advantage to living in a city. so i am seeing big changes in my body structure, and i now have definition in my legs and butt!! i would love to get together with anyone who is nearby, so write to me! cin

Hi everyone.  My name is Diana and I live in Portland.  My surgery was at SW Regional Medical center in Vancouver by Dr. Jay Jan on 4/24/08.  I am almost seven weeks post surgery and have lost 20lbs.  I lost 13 prior to surgery so my total is 33.  It seems to be going slowly but I am happy with every lb lost.  I also have not had a fill so I lost that 20lbs with pretty much no restriction.  My first fill is this Thursday. I am 37, single and am owned by two kitties.  It's great to meet others in the fourms.

My name is Vicki.  I had lap DS surgery on Wednesday, May 14, 2008, with Dr. Deveney at OHSU Hospital.  I am now 26 days post-op and am doing very well!  I lost 18# prior to surgery and have lost 20# since surgery! I have met several OH members at breakfasts in the Portland area and an informal gathering in Springfield. I had an appt with Dr. D and his resident earlier this afternoon, and he cleared me to eat solid foods once more!  I will have to re-introduce them gradually.  It's now a challenge to decide which solid food to try.  I also had labs done.  My next appt is in 2 months.  I saw Vicki J as I came in and Susan F as I was leaving.  Both NPs were very busy; yet, Susan and I chatted very briefly.  I think I might see Vicki on Wednesday.

Has not weighed myself since 1/2010.  Letting my clothes gauge my progress instead.

Hello My name is Lori,      I live in little Willamina, Oregon with my husband and six kids.  I am hoping to have surgery in the next couple months.  I have all of my tests and labs done and am just waiting for a date.  I have to have a large hiatel hernia repair done at the same time as my RNY so scheduling is going to be the problem because I have to have both surgeons and I am having it at Salem Hospital and there are only 2 surgeons in the Bariatric program.  I am very excited about the whole thing.  I have lost 52 pounds doing my 6 month diet and am really ready to go.  I love this site and lurk here often.                                                                            Have a Great Day!                                                                                    Lori

Hi, I'm Gayla - I am just a little over a year post surgery - had the RNY at OHSU with Dr. Deveney.  I've lost about 127 lbs - and rarely get on the scales so am not positive.  No regrets here at all!  I count on the information that I gain here on Obesity Help.com - and so come often to read - but don't post as much as I did last year. I am at a "plateau" right now, mostly because of a health glitch - Bradycardia - which is a slow heart rate that keeps me from being able to exercise.  The cardiologist is working on finding out if a pacemaker will help bring the heart rate back up to speed and eliminate they fatique and weakness.  If it looks like it will be helpful, then I will have that pacemaker put it, and pray for sunny weather so I can get out an play a few games of tennis!  I live in a fifth-wheel full time, and we do a lot of "camping" and some traveling - but I love the lifestyle!  When I say "we" I am talking about my husband and two poodles.  Life is great at age 57 - I couldn't be happier!

Hello everyone!  I am usually on the DS forum but check in here too. I had DS surgery over a yr. ago- no complications- eat anything and do not have diaherea or gas issues like most think DSr's do! (HA) Married 18 yrs. live outside Eugene in rurals; have lost 80 lbs. and still expect more to come off this summer as I get more active. Absolutely NO regrets at all and I advocate the DS and Dr. Deveny at OHSU. Best advice? Do your research newbies- be sure you get the surgery results you EXPECT and can LIVE with. And ALWAYS take your vitamins.
