Introductions!
Hi!!! My name is Vicki and I am currently in the process of getting WLS. Next week I have an appt with the patient coordinator and nutritionist at Good Samaritan in Corvallis. Yahoo!!!!!!
I have been happily married to a great guy for 33 years next Monday. We are retired military - so love being settled in one place the last 7 years. There are 10 cats, a dog and 2 mice that live with us. My husband says we have "Sucker" written on our foreheads in cat speak - all our cats were strays or humane society. We also have a wonderful daughter who lives with her husband (another great guy) in Vancouver.
It is so good to read about other people on this forum who have struggled over the years and who finally have hope.
Thanks to everyone for their stories.

Hey everybody! I'm Brandy, 27 and live in Central Oregon. I'm in the process of getting my lap band surgery approved. I am really really nervous since I don't have any co-morbidities and my BMI is just under %40. Cross your fingers for me please!!! I am positively desperate to get this done. This is my first time posting on the Oregon board, I didn't realize that it existed, but I'm excited to meet everybody! I've been on the main lap band forum for about a month now. I'm looking to forward to hearing everybody's experiences so far! Good and bad.
Hello everyone!
My name is Michelle and I live across the boarder in Idaho but work in Oregon and had my surgery in Portland with Dr. Jan (great guy!!) back in June 2006. I'm 35 years old, been married (my 2nd) for almost 7 years and have a son that is 15 years old...and OMG jhe ust got his driver's license (YES...15 in Idaho not 16 like Oregon).
My husband was very supportive of me getting my surgery and he is still supportive of things I do and the way I eat. I just feel really out of the loop because there isn't any support meetings where I live and there isn't many people that have had the surgery over here. I was pre-op at 325 and I am currently 172...so that's 153 pounds in 2 years. I have been flunctuating between 170 and 178 for the last 4-5 months and I am just frustrated. I have been working out 6 days a week and it seems like when I exercise I gain weight and then when I don't I lose...don't have any clue with what's up with that.
It would be good to get to know some others and find out their secrets to continued weight loss and maybe some good exercise routines.
Thanks,
Michelle
Hello all,
I'm Linda and I live in Salem with my hubby of 20 years. He is super supportive of me having the surgery done and has always loved me at all my sizes, lol. I'm going to have my surgery at OHSU if all goes well. I am considering the DS or RNY, but leaning more to the DS; I keep going back and forth. Nice to see everyone introduce themselves, good idea.
Linda
This is a great idea!
I'm Patty, 55, in Keizer. Married, 2 step-kids, one still at home. I used to think I was a dog-only person, but now am the servant of 2 cats. I work as a computer systems analyst for an Oregon state agency that specializes in consumer protection.
I was interested in WLS, esp. the DS, but that procedure was not covered by my insurance PEBB BC/BS. On the recommendation of both my shrink and my previous PCP, I had selected Legacy and Dr. Patterson, but have been unable to quit smoking. I do exercise (swim), but needed to make a change, and the surgery thing just wasn't happening. So I started Medifast and am making progress.
Hey...
I'm Deanna, 37 yrs old. Moved to Oregon City from Kansas 1.5 ago and just bought a house in Sandy. Had RNY Sept. of '02...wow almost 6 yrs. I lost 211lbs, gained 2 babies (lilly 3.5 and Calvin 2.5) and a little baby weight!!!lol Had a lower body lift last Oct and had 25lbs of excess skin removed. I now have the CUTEST belly button!! Hoping to have a little more reconstructive surgery done. I used to be a personal trainer and Water ex instructor in KS but now am a SAHM. I Miss getting paid to exercise!!!lol I can and do eat pretty much anything I want with in reason. I have a few demons. But don't we all!! I still believe STRONGLY that staying connected to some type of support group for wls is EXTREMELY important wether your doing well or struggling. We're all in the same boat and NOBODY is perfect.
I really enjoy reading your posts and feeling the excitement of your journeys as well as the frustration. It's a WILD ride!!!
Hi all, I am 40 and just had RNY on April 29th. At my 5wks. post op I had lost 42lbs. I still have another 63 to go and hope for the great results to continue.
In 3 days I will be 6wks. post op and hope to incorporate a little more veggies and foods into my diet. I feel great and I am so glad I decided to have it done.
Aloha and Best Wishes to all!
