There are a good number of protein powders on the market.  Your taste may change after your surgery.  As a result, the protein shakes may taste great pre-op but taste gucky post-op.  So it's best to order samples at first.  Here is where to order protein samples:

Unjury: http://www.unjury.com Bariatric Eating: http://www.bariatriceating.com VitaLady: http://www.vitalady.com

I have read in other forums of others *****ceived free samples directly from manufacturers by stating that they're candidates for WLS. I got several samples from vitalady.com this morning and haven't tried them out yet.  Because she lives in Washington state, my orders have been received the next business day after FedEx Home delivery picks them up. Hope this helps!

Wow, your not kidding that tastes change after surgery!!!  I can't keep those protien drinks down anymore!  It's been a year and I keep trying, because I liked them so well before surgery.

I had already been warned on the boards about the possibility of my taste changing after surgery.  I was drinking a banana-flavored protein drink prior to surgery and was surprised that I was still able to tolerate it post-op. I recently ordered several samples from vitalady.com and got them this morning.  I haven't tried any of them yet.  At least I won't be wasting a $25-plus container on those that I don't like.

The only protein drink I can stand now is the Designer Whey Pomegranate Juice Protein Powder -- I get it at GNC.  They also have a Mango Orange that I would like to try.  I can't stand any of the chocolate or vanilla ones anymore, even though I liked them before surgery. Linda

lowellian gave me a sample of her chocolate-flavored protein powder from Unjury last month.  I decided to wait until after my surgery to try it.  I drank it last week and couldn't stand it either.  Therefore, we're in the same boat.

I seem to really do well with any fruity flavored of anything.  I went through one day craving oranges....I think I ate 5 of them in one day - that is what I ate for my snacks and two of my meals.  I don't make a habit of eating like that.  Lately I find that any vegetables including carrots and pea pods and most fruits rank high on my list of stuff to eat....meats are really tough for me to get down.  Anyway, chocolate and vanilla protien flavors are absolutely not on my list of things to buy!  I also find that eating nuts is something that my pouch tolerates well....

I really think the Unjury protein is the best.  I use the unflavored and put it in diet hot chocolate and oatmeal.  It mixes well and does not have a funky after-taste.

I read a similar post on the DS board and decided to try the Champion nutrition chocolate stacker and it tastes very good. They also make banana scream and other flavors. Here's the link to the other post. http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/DS/a,messageboard/action,r eplies/board_id,5357/cat_id,4957/topic_id,3575923/page,1/ someone else gave the website for lowest prices for champion as well at ALLStarHealth.com. I hope I like them post op. Good luck, Brenda
