I just had a tiny bump in the road in my process toward surgery (partially my fault) and now I need to adjust my expectations. For those of you who went through OHSU, what was the time between insurance approval and surgery date? Today's lesson for all of you newbies: Always follow through and make sure that records were actually sent. Never Assume!!

i didnt have insurance approval until my records were all in-so im not sure our situations will be exactly the same. from seminar to having surgery date was 10 months. From initial visit to Surgery date was 8 months. I had 3 situations where records were either not sent, not received or sat in piles for more than a month. I had records people tell me 3 times that all my records were in only to find 3 months later that they were not and that was what the hold up was. Stay on top of the records, bug the scheduler and if you haven't already logged onto mychart do so. you can email the nurse practitioner through there and get her to step on things little. After the last time they messed up I called and got angry-I had a date in a matter of weeks. My best advice is to hand collect all of your records and hand deliver them-make copies so that if they lose this set you can drive down and do it again. I know this sounds pessimistic but I had a very difficult time with the records process. Now to be fair there are many others on here that had smooth sailing!

MyChart is a secured online access to your OHSU health info from your computer.  The only way to get it is to get a hard copy of the instructions from the front desk when you go in for your initial appt at OHSU.

Hi, I am new to all this and appreciate any info I can get.  I live in Portland.  Went to OHSU info seminar and was bummed when they said $25-30K.  Am scheduled for seminar at Good Sam. Could you share how much it was at Good Sam? I am going to have to self-pay as my insurance co., HealthNet, does not pay. Thanks for help.
