Cancelled Surgery Date

Hello all- I have had to "cancel" my surgery date. I had some girly troubles two weeks ago that dropped my iron levels down way too low. Plus I had to take too much time off work. As a result I dont have any more time to take this month, and I'm not comfortable doing an elective surgery until my iron levels are back up. The records person said i could not reschedule but had to cancel and send my records into the doctor-I have faxed the request in for that to happen Everyone keep your fingers crossed everyone that this will only be a 1 month hump not another 6 month marathon!!!

I am so sorry - I just sent you a reply saying how excited I was for you. Please forgive me.
But, I agree it shouldn't take 6 mos. - they already have you in the system.

Oh Tina!  I'm so sorry.  I hope it will just be a short wait before you're back in the queue.  Get those iron levels up gal!  Red meat, raisins, and supplements ought to help some. Linda

Tina,  I am sorry---that must be so disappointing but a good reason for canceling.  Get some good iron tabs and eat well.  Darn those girly things anyway.  Julia

Hi Tina,  Sorry your surgery was postponed.   I have been battling anemia off and on and the doctor had me take vitamin C along with the iron pills.  It is supposed to make the iron absorb better.   Also, my GYN told me about a liquid iron that you can get in a vitamin store, that is supposed to work faster than the pills.  I don't know the name of it though.    Linda

Thanks Linda Ill go check that out. I hate the iron tablets and would like to get off them as soon as I can. right now with high blood pressure and other stuff im having to throw back four pills every morning and I hate it! I know for some that is nothing but Im crap at it. Part of the reason i want to do the lapband in the first place-to get off all of these pills!

Oh Tina!  So bummed to see that your surgery was postponed until your iron levels are back to the proper levels!  I was hoping that we'd see each other in the unit as we recover from our surgeries. Hope you will be able to have your surgery in the near future.

Yes-you are going to have a big headstart on me but I will try and get to an OHSU support group or one of the board breakfast get togethers eventually!! Tina
