Frustration!!!!!

I will be a year out on 6/28/08.  I have lost 98lbs so far but I have been stuck at 180 for the last three months.  I am so frustrated.  I only have two lbs to go until I reach 100lbs lost and only 40 more lbs to go until I reach my goal.  I am just at a stand still and not sure if this is normal or what I need to do to get to my goals.  Don't get me wrong, I am soooo happy that I've lost what I have.  I have never felt better, but when I am so close to my goals and I don't seem able to reach them, I get very upset and then I get down on myself.  Has anyone else hit a plateau at the point where I'm at?  Does the weight loss ever pick up again?  HELP!!!!

Leslie,
You have progressed amazingly. Even on diets, you get to a certain point where you plateau and you get stuck. Sometimes, all it takes is to increase your exercising or decreasing your food input. Before, you know it, you'll hit that 100 lb mark. It's the waiting for things to start back up again that is the hardest.
Good Luck,

I for sure had a pause at about the year mark after dropping an amazing amount of weight (like you!).  The next phase for me as a pound here a pound there...suddenly it would add up to five pounds.  When your down lower five pounds is as significant as ten pounds was when higher up.  Ya know that ratio stuff.  I do think our bodies need to rest and adjust to having just given up a lot of weight.  You keep on doing your thing, maybe mix it up a bit to keep your metabolism guessing.  Sometimes I even thought I would start losing again just when I had given in to some higher calorie days.  I think there can be times it hangs on because we are being too good.  Mostly, it's best to just keep on living your new lifestyle - it isn't over at the one year point. Thanks Patty I feel a great deal better.  It is sometimes hard for me when my friend who had surgery after me is already at her goal....I try to remind myself that she had a lot less to lose and I will get there too but I'm sure you know how down on ourselves we can get.  I am heading into a busy couple of months with vacations and activities so hopefully that will kick my body back into gear.  Thanks again for your support :-)

I am almost three years out with ZERO weight loss in about 1 1/2 years (maybe 2), LOL!  I just finished the 5 day pouch test and I am down 5lbs, try it!!!! www.5daypouchtest.com  You can do it! Brandi

Thank you Brandi...I have never heard of this pouch test but it seems something that makes real sense.  I am going to try it out and see if it works for me.  I am glad that it worked for you!  Anything to help at this point is great.  I think it is so easy to lose sight of just how many tools we have.

I stopped losing at six months out.  It's been almost four months with just a pound here and there, adding up to only about four pounds since my six month check up.  I'm grateful I haven't gained, but I was really looking forward to getting more weight off.  I'm not sure it will happen. Linda

I'm with you Linda!  It's hard to not get discouraged when losing was going so well and then just suddently stops for longer than a month.  Especially when I see my other friends continuing to lose.  I am gonna try the pouch test to see if it gets me back on track.  I am also hoping that by staying busy this summer with work and play that it will help as well.  Here's to kick starting our weight loss again.  We'll hang in there together! Thanks for your support. Leslie
