support group

I got my band on the 15th. Is there a support group in the Astoria area? Everything is going pretty good except for diarrhea that might be getting better. The protein shakes are hard for me to drink. My weight is going down, I only have a 100 lbs to go.

I'm not aware of any.  I don't even go to the clinic one here in Portland.  I find that the support I get from these boards is really helpful. There is also a yahoo lap band forum for people in Oregon and, although I've not met up with them, they have periodic meet-ups but they also tend to be in the Portland area. I know it is nice to sometimes meet up with someone "just like you" but I've found that I've learned quite a bit from my RNY (and other) buds. If you have any questions, just ask away! Lori

I am in Long Beach, across the river.  I had the bypass surgery.  To my knowledge there is no local support group (but I don't know for sure!).  I do think there is a group in Longview.  I'd be happy to meet up with you for coffee sometime if you like. -Kelly
