Hi all! I have my first consultation with Dr. Tersigni this week and was just wondering what I could expect. Also, I am self pay, so I wonder if anyone has any information on how long it usually is before your surgery is scheduled, if you're approved by the doctor. Just getting a little more nervous before the consultation than I thought I would, so I thought I'd see if anyone was on the boards tonight. Thanks! NWGirl123

Hi, I had dr Tersigni and was self pay. I had the lap band done.  But I had my consult in October and scheduled my surgery that day and had my surgery one month later.. Of course I had to have ekg, blood work and consult with a therapist but I was totally ready and love that I did it...Dr Tersigni is very nice and so is his staff.. Good luck

Thanks for the info gabbyjane. Do you mind if I ask how the weight loss has gone for you with the band? I'm not sure which procedure the Dr will recommend, but I'd like to do the band for a few different reasons. I've been researching this and thinking about it for a couple years now, so I too think I'm ready, but I guess the Doc will have to decide if that's true or not.

Hi again, my weightloss has been slow and total since my first visit in October I have lost 52lbs and 42 since surgery.. I have had two fills and am doing really good as far as the eating goes.. I can't eat to much and I get full fast.. When I went in for my consult we only talked about the band and thats because of me, thats what I wanted.. Also they have a nurse in the office that had the lap band and looks fabulous, that was so encouraging.. For me I am so happy that I did this and it has been very exciting.

Hello I am scheduled for RNY on April 29 with Dr T.  He is great.  He will present the options and ricks.  Robin his chief nurses and program coordinator.  She will share her experience (she had bypass 9 or 11 years ago) and the experience of family members (7 have had WLS).  You will weighed and be asked question upon question trying to get the best match for you (lap or bypass).  I do not know about the billing and scheduling.  I am sure you will need the psych, nutrition, support group, and weight loss (weight loss is to shrink the liver to increase the ease of surgery, lessen the risk factor and aids in recovery time).  I did get a hard sale pitch from Dr T or his staff.  They offer dietary supplements for aid in the pre-surgery weight loss, again no hard sale.

I am thrilled with the opportunity and decision that I have made with Dr T and Bay Bariatrics.

The are very punctual and on top of any question that I have had.

Reynold

Well...the consultation went great! Everyone in the office was spectacular and I got a really good vibe from Dr. T. Seeing Robin and her success is certainly a great motivator. We decided that the full bypass was the best choice for me and my surgery is scheduled for May 6th. I am super excited! Only three weeks until I start a whole new life. Wow. Can't believe it. Kind of surreal actually. I've been thinking about it for a couple years and to now have it just there is kind of weird. Lots of emotion that I didn't think I'd be feeling just came welling up after I got into my car to leave yesterday. Gotta start the liquid diet next week in prep for the surgery. So maybe it's only one week till the start of my new life! LOL! Thanks for everyone's responses.
