Doing pretty good just trying to remember to sip, walk, and change positions.....was easier to sleep in my own bed last night. Don't like how the pain meds make me feel.

Glad to hear you made it home.  I'd take the pain pills when I really needed them and sleep.  Then I'd get up, clear my head, and go for a walk. Linda

Welcome home, Deb! I understand how you feel.  I have had to take pain pills on a regular schedule after surgery, especially when I got up and at bedtime.  That way, the pain could be nipped in the bud before it got worse. Not easy to change positions after major abdominal surgery either.  Glad to see that you had an easier time sleeping in your own bed last nite. Best of luck on your recovery!

Congrats Next step,  total success. I think I am going to get a timer / multi alarm clock to remind me to eat and sip during my proposed recovery.   Manage the pain and keep your chin up. Reynold

Thanks to all of you for your responses. I talked to a couple of WLS surgery friends and I decided to go off the pain medicine and I am feeling so much better now! Plus I think it lets you know more what your body can handle or not.

Good luck with the timer, Reynold~ I was doing that...and it works if I get something new and then just sip it during that hour but most things don't last that long....I think I am doing well with my drinking but I am trying to get better at tracking it....plus I am still keeping water and ice by my bed to sip at night. I don't like that feeling of being dehydrated.

Congratulations Deb!  You are going to be blooming like the spring flowers! I can remember how getting into bed was such a big deal and I wondered if and when I would be able to just plop down again.  It does get a little bit easier every day.  I used some of my childbirth breathing and it really helped going up stairs and getting up and down.  My dogs thought I was nuts though!  I also propped myself with LOTS of pillows in bed so I didn't have to turn so much to be comfortable. Keep us updated on your progress. Patty

Thanks Patty, that is very kind of you. I had my first pretty decent nights sleep last night. I hope that will help with the healing. But I have looked at my intake yesterday and I don't think I drank enough. So that is my goal today to get closer to the 48 oz.

Being farther out has it's advantages, in that I hope I will have the "routine" down better.

Glad there are so many "loser role models" here!
