Andrew finally got his date, guys!  He is going to have his surgery on 4/30 at Sacred Heart.  He is Dr. Umbach's last case before leaving back to San Francisco.   I did find out some interesting news though -- I asked the new dietitian at the last month who was going to be assisting Dr. Yarborough in surgery since it is a 2-man job and I was told that Dr. Gorin would be coming down to assist on surgeries.  I don't know if he's planning on seeing any patients in the office or if he's just flying in to do surgeries on Wednesdays but I was so stoked to find out that he's coming back into town!  I just love that guy ... such a great surgeon and great bedside manner.   I hope you guys are all doing well.  I'm doing well, just very busy with work (yeah, I know, so what else is new huh?)  We need to get together and have another clothing exchange.  I have a ton of summer clothes here.

HI Tara,  Yep that is very interesting about Dr. Gorrin.  I was sooo thrilled.  I will have to make a special trip to see him -- maybe he'll take Andrew's staples out.  He's having RNY.  He wanted LapBand at first but changed his mind ... didn't like the idea of the fills.  I will let you know about getting together.

Congratulations to Andrew on getting his surgery date!  Was he the tall boy whom I saw in our get-together last October?  What procedure will he be getting? I am well on my journey to the Wizard of D.  I have a laundry list of appts and a class, all related to WLS, next Monday, April 14, starting at noon and ending by 3:30, or 4 at the latest.  Plus, I will get to meet Pam in Portland! As you may see on my avatar, my surgery date will be on Wednesday, May 14.  Looks like 14 is my new lucky number! It would be nice if I could come down to the Eugene-Springfield area again, but I would prefer not to travel so soon after my surgery. Nice to see you posting again!

Hi Vicky, Yep, that was probably him.  Both of my boys were home I believe.  He's having RNY.  I bet you are getting excited to get your surgery too.  Only another month!  Maybe we can get together before your surgery.

I also remember a younger boy being at home as well.  Both boys spent a lot of time playing with the new pup while we were there.  I can imagine that the pup is growing now! Yes, I'm excited about getting my surgery.  If it is done lap, then I can be out of the hospital after 3 nites; otherwise, one week.  I will know more on Monday. Hopefully we can get together again before my surgery.

Wow that's great!  I was wondering who would be helping out now.  I finally got a call from them that they are now a Center of Excellence, but, of course, I'd already had my surgery. Linda

Wow that is great news!  I didn't realize they finally got their certification.

Wha? Sacred Heart is a C of E now? Aaargh! Well, I'm in too deep at OHSU now. I have my psych eval next Thursday and I may make my required weight loss goal by then, so I'll have them weigh me while I'm in the building.

In the long run, you may be better off.  At least until they get another permanent doctor at Sacred Heart.  Right now they only have one full-time surgeon and Kim says Dr. Gorrin will be flying in to help out on Wednesdays.  Any after-care emergencies might find them with a bit of a thin staff.  I really wish I could have had my surgery here too, but I'm so glad I didn't wait.
