I have a question for those of you who have had surgery. I will be having Lap-Band. I have alot of pills to take on a daily basis for various problems. What did you do post surgery, crush them etc. I would really like to know. Thanks

Hmm - I don't know what the lapbanders do.  I know some docs have RNY patients crush pills or open capsules, but I didn't have to do that.  Could be different for the band. Linda

That's something that should be brought up with your WL surgeon or the person(s) who prescribed your meds.

I crushed my pills for the first 3 weeks.  If doing that buying one of those pill crushers makes it much easier (they have them at all drug stores).  I would crush them all and put it in a little cup of water and down the hatch.  I found that less of a big deal than putting the crushed stuff into food like apple sauce or pudding.  I wanted all my little food "meals" to be pleasurable.  I got my Paxil in liquid form for after surgery, but it was so thick and disgusting I went to crushing the pills ASAP.  I couldn't stand swallowing - it made me wretch.  At three weeks I started swallowing real pills whole.  I stuck with chewable calcium for a while after that, but I got real sick of the good taste pretty fast.  I have been able to tolerate all pills including huge horse ones from three weeks out.
